Publishing in the 21st century

“How could I understand this madness? I explained it, through an ache in my belly, as some mysterious, hidden error in the way I was, the marrow of my existence. A punishment that was all for my own good.”
(William Pryor in The Survival of the Coolest)

Clear Press Submissions

Clear Press is looking for creative, innovative, life-enhancing non-fiction books to publish. But (there had to be one!), being a small business, we can only give your manuscript the attention it deserves if we have already decided we are interested. In other words, the only way we can consider your book for publication is from three sample chapters and a one-page synopsis.

On paper, with a stamped return envelope to:

By email to [email protected]

Please do not expect a rapid response. Paper submissions presented in any way other than that described above will be ignored. Email submissions must be formatted like a paper submission (double spaced, wide margins) and pdf format is preferred over Word - PC only.

Our particular areas of interest are: biography, creativity, music, mental health, travel, spirituality, popular science - all with a modern or post-modern twist. We will not consider poetry or fiction.

It looks wonderful and I can see that I shall enjoy reading it. The illustrations are especially good. Warmest Congratulations!

Woolf & the Raverats arrived today in fine condition. We are very pleased with it and look forward to reading the lovely type on fine paper.
Jim Bishop

It's a fascinating and, of course, unique book.
Peter Kettle

The publication of these letters in one volume brings into focus an unusually compassionate aspect of Virginia Woolf. Jacques Raverat's lucid, unsentimental letters to Woolf are dictated to his wife, the artist Gwen, as he is dying in France. Very moving, they are a compelling read.
(Henrietta Garnett, great niece of Virginia Woolf and author of Family Skeletons)
